Drive FAQ

We deeply appreciate every donation that we receive – both cash and in-kind, as both help us better our community. A food drive is a great way to have a tangible tie to the cause, while also supporting the community and promoting awareness of poverty in our area. Food donations create an immediate impact in our food banks. We can stretch cash donations a bit further to purchase food for our food banks, and often times, donating cash is more convenient. Every pound or dollar makes a difference in the lives of neighbors in need!


Yes! We need certain items at our shelter and transitional housing sites for families who move in and are facing difficult times. Please find a list of donation items in the downloadable PDF: Most Needed Housing Items.


Absolutely! Bins and posters are free, optional and available for pick-up at any of our service sites which can be coordinated by Kiri at or at 425.897.3710.


After donations enter our food banks and are receipted, they are sorted into appropriate categories by our volunteers and placed onto the shelves for clients. Our clients can visit our food banks twice a month. Our food banks are set up in a grocery store model – allowing clients to shop for what they know their family will love.


Food donations can be dropped off at any of our service sites which are open Monday-Friday from 8:30am-5:00pm, with the exception of our Sno-Valley center which is closed on Fridays.


  • Food (not expired, shelf stable, refrigerated, frozen, etc.)
  • Bulk items (rice, beans, etc.)
  • Paper products, hygiene items, cleaning supplies, diapers
  • Books
  • Seasonal
    June-Sept: New school supplies and backpacks
    Nov-Jan: New and unopened toys, clothes, gifts, etc.


  • Expired, opened or damaged food
  • Homemade or ready-to-eat goods (jam, sandwiches, etc.)
  • Meat that is not USDA grade (wild game)
  • Clothes, shoes, accessories (for any age)
  • Home goods (rugs, towels, napkins, etc.)
  • Appliances
  • Medicines
  • Alcohol


We always prefer food that is not expired and ask that items are new and unwrapped. Our most needed items can be found here.


We find it helpful if you’re able to schedule your drop off with Kiri so that she can give the appropriate food bank staff a heads up. She can be reached at or at 425.897.3710.


We have limited resources but can pick up donations of 1,000 pounds or more with appropriate notice of 2-3 weeks. Please contact Kiri at if this is something you need help with.


Yes! A volunteer or Hopelink staff member will receipt your donations on an in-kind receipt form and give you a copy.


Checks can be made payable to “Hopelink” and can be dropped off at any of our locations or mailed to our administrative office at PO Box 3577 Redmond, WA 98073.


You will receive a receipt upon dropping off your in-kind donations which will include your total weight in pounds. If you didn’t receive a receipt or are inquiring about cash, please email Kiri at or by phone at 425.897.3710.
